Amazon is adapting Iain M. Banks’ Culture novels for TV: Is this the next Game of Thrones?

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos is a fan of the British author's space opera book series that's "relatively unknown" in the United States. In fact, Bezos called it "a huge personal favorite" in announcing the news on his personal Twitter that Banks' book Consider Phlebas was being adapted into a TV series. "Culture novels have a lot of excitement and surface spectacle,' says Henry Farrell. "They also have considerable political depth and moral ambiguity. Making them work in a different medium is certainly possible, but it will involve a lot of hard and careful work."
