Why Amazon made a “terrible decision” in canceling Tig Notaro’s One Mississippi

  • It is bad optics for Amazon, after having several ties to the recent sexual misconduct scandals, to cancel this particular female-led show, says Alan Sepinwall, pointing out that One Mississippi is a very cheap show to make. “Costs almost nothing, pays huge dividends for the brand, maybe even brings new eyeballs to the show. Easy,” he says, adding: “This was a great show that still felt like it had a lot of story to tell, and one of the advantages of this weird, overflowing era in TV is that great shows tend to be allowed to run as long as they want, or at least get to end at a point mutually negotiated between creator and distributor.”
