Jenny Han's new drama The Summer I Turned Pretty has been renewed for a second season at Amazon Prime Video, one week before its Season 1 premiere, reports Variety.

The new series, based on Han's book of the same name, centers on a love triangle between a teenage girl (Lola Tung) and two brothers (Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno). The drama also focuses on the teens' relationships with their mothers, played by Jackie Chung and Rachel Blanchard, and the bond of female friendship.

"When I decided to adapt Summer for television, I knew we'd need more than one season to honor the story we are telling," said Han in a statement. "To receive a second season pickup ahead of the premiere of Season 1 is beyond my wildest dreams. I am so grateful to Amazon Studios for this amazing vote of confidence in our show, and cannot wait to bring our incredible team back together to tell the next chapter in our story."

The Summer I Turned Pretty premieres June 17 on Prime Video.
