Saved by the Bell Fans Mourn Peacock Cancellation: 'Why Did Peacock Fumble the Bag?'

Peacock has cancelled its Saved By the Bell revival series after just two seasons. The  reboot of the 1990s teen series premiered in November 2020, with Season 2 arriving a year later. Although the comedy received mostly positive reviews, it's unknown how well the show performed, as Peacock does not release viewership information.

The series revival featured original cast members Elizabeth Berkley Lauren and Mario Lopez as series regulars, with appearances from fellow OGs Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tiffani Thiessen, and Lark Voorhies. New cast members included John Michael Higgins, Haskiri Velazquez, Mitchell Hoog, Josie Totah, Alycia Pascual-Peña, Belmont Cameli, and Dexter Darden.

After news of the cancellation broke on Wednesday night, fans took to Twitter to share their disappointment. Most blamed Peacock for the decision to cancel "the perfect sitcom," which they described as "effortlessly diverse, full of heart, and stuffed w/ excellent jokes." As writer Mike Roe put it, the cancellation is a "huge bummer."

The Saved By The Bell reboot on Peacock has been effortlessly diverse, full of heart, and stuffed w/ excellent jokes.

Tracey Wigfield & Co., coming from the lineage of the 30 Rock writers' room, made something truly worthy of that pedigree.

Cancellation or not, the first two seasons of Saved by the Bell are available to stream on Peacock.
