    Today's TV highlights include the launch of a raw coming of age series, the second episode of a reboot with big numbers, a quirky new talk show, a pair of fascinating docs, and a departed co-star returning for his series' final season.

    SERIES PREMIERE: From Tarell Alvin McCraney, the Academy Award-winning writer/producer of Moonlight, and executive producers Oprah Winfrey and Michael B. Jordan comes David Makes Man, a coming of age story set in the South Florida projects. As our Aaron Barnhart writes in his review, the series follows14-year old David (Akili McDowell) as he navigates middle school, family life, and the unique pressures that come with being young, gifted and black in today's America. The series features Phylicia Rashad as one of David's demanding teachers.     NEW EPISODE: History repeats itself, as Rashad's new show shares the night with an old Cosby-era rival. Fox has a hit on its hands with BH90210, which debuted last week as the summer's top series launch. The second episode finds Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth working to convince their former cast members to get on board a newly green-lit Beverly Hills, 90210 revival. 9:00 PM ET on Fox

    SPECIAL PRESENTATION: HBO explores the unorthodox approaches Americans are taking as they reach the end of their lives in Alternate Endings: Six New Ways to Die in America.
