Orlando Bloom Leads Amazon's Neo-Noir Fantasy Carnival Row

    With its Lord of the Rings prequel series still in its early stages, Amazon appears to be betting big on another high profile offering, this one starring The Lord of the Rings film trilogy's Orlando Bloom. Carnival Row has already been renewed for a second season ahead of tonight's premiere.

    Other series debuts include an expansion of the Jim Henson's Dark Crystal and a supernatural summer camp drama, both on Netflix. Here are the highlights.

    SERIES PREMIERE: The eight-episode neo-noir fantasy series Carnival Row is set in a world of humans and mystical creatures, and follows detective Rycroft Philostrate (Orlando Bloom) and fairy Vignette Stonemoss (Cara Delevingne) as they investigate a series of unsolved Victorian murders.     SERIES PREMIERE: Set in the world of Jim Henson's original film, Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance returns to Thra for an all new series of adventures.     SERIES PREMIERE: Something clearly isn't right on Peregrine Island, the summer camp setting of The A List.     DOCUMENTARY PREMIERE: PBS gives viewers an up close look at a uniquely American music genre in Big Family: The Story of Bluegrass Music.
