    John Mulaney: Baby J

    Tuesday, Netflix

“As you process and digest how obnoxious, wasteful, and unlikable that story is,” teases stand-up comedian John Mulaney in his new Netflix comedy special, “Just remember: That’s one I’m willing to tell you.” In the time since his last special in 2018, the comic and former Saturday Night Live writer went public about his relapse into substance abuse, the breakdown of his marriage, and the birth of his son with actress Olivia Munn. John Mulaney’s been processing his tumultuous life through comedy, with Baby J promising a more intimate side of the star’s practiced stage persona.

    From Season 2 Premiere

Sunday, 9:00 PM ET on MGM+

In Season 2, a brand new busload of travelers get stuck in From’s mysterious town, where evil lurks in the dark woods and Harold Perrineau’s de facto mayor tries to keep the peace and find an escape. The first season of the supernatural chiller ratcheted up the tension, gore, and unexplained phenomena, all of which Lost star Perrineau should be used to by this point. Still, the influx of new blood (including Nathan D. Simmons, Kaelen Ohm, and Angela Moore) into From’s heady mix of horror and suspense makes the survivors’ quest to escape their surreal rural nightmare that much more complicated.

    Saint X

    Wednesday, Hulu

Alison (West Duchovny), a rich young woman, is found dead at an exclusive Caribbean resort in Saint X, Hulu’s limited series based on Alexis Schaitkin’s novel. A potent tale of class and race, Saint X uses multiple timelines to examine the cross-currents of loss, intrigue, and obsession that follow, as Alison’s grieving sister Emily (Alycia Debnam-Carey) pursues the elusive truth behind her death. Developed by Emmy winner Leila Gerstein (The Handmaid’s Tale), the drama co-stars Breaking Bad’s Betsy Brandt as the girls’ mother. The first three episodes premiere Wednesday.

    Love & Death

    Thursday, HBO Max

David E. Kelley brings us a true-crime tale of adultery and ax murder in 1980 Texas in this seven-episode limited series starring Elizabeth Olsen and Patrick Fugit as Candy and Pat Montgomery. When the couple crosses paths with Betty and Allan Gore (Lily Rabe and Jesse Plemons), a shocking murder rocks their small town, with all signs pointing to Olsen’s cheating wife as the culprit. Krysten Ritter and Elizabeth Marvel round out Love & Death’s stellar cast, while TV veteran Kelley elevates the real-life material with plenty of era-appropriate retrograde attitudes. As one character notes, tellingly, to Candy, “This is Texas. Folks might be able to forgive murder. Adultery, not so much.” Watch the first three episodes Thursday.

The Late Late Show With James Corden Series Finale

Following The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah out of the late-night hosting world is James Corden, who’s departing after eight years behind The Late Late Show desk. Corden will say goodbye to his CBS show the only way he knows how — by singing along to popular songs in a car with his famous pals. Before the last-ever Late Late Show With James Corden, featuring guests Harry Styles and Will Ferrell, Corden will cruise around Los Angeles crooning singalong hits with Adele in a primetime Carpool Karaoke special.

    Citadel

    Friday, Amazon Prime Video

It’s time for James Bond-style action and intrigue. Citadel presents a world in which two strangers, Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), discover not only that they were mind-wiped after the fall of top secret international spy agency known as Citadel, but that they’re actually super-spies with a tangled personal history and top-notch fighting skills. Taking the 007 idea even further, the evil organization that took down Citadel is called Manticore, for crying out loud. When former boss Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci) informs the agents that the clock is ticking to save the world from Manticore’s plot of global domination, the ever-glamorous Madden and Chopra Jones suit up for over-the-top fun in this series from Marvel action mavens the Russo Brothers.
